Dealer success during COVID-19 looks a little different. Pre-COVID, there was a lot of handshaking, face to face deal-making, and general business as usual. Now success is a little less personal and a lot more digital. Technology adoption has skyrocketed out of the need to do business remotely, and the faster you adopt technology, the more success you will have in the future. Here is a story of one commercial salesman named Dale that used technology to find the right work truck for a customer, hundreds of miles away, at another dealership.
In Minnesota, you can find a smart, kind, and hardworking commercial salesman named Dale, who loves his job and loves work trucks. Because of COVID-19, Dale was furloughed for three months. Even while furloughed, Dale answered inquiries because Work Truck Solutions’ technology enabled him to work remotely. Your “office” can be anywhere these days!

When he returned to his dealership’s physical location in July, it didn’t take long for a new lead to come in. The eager buyer needed an extremely specific kind of box truck, one that was over 12-feet. The buyer explained that he was from the Twin Cities, but wanted to expand his search to find the right truck. As the buyer had made deliveries in the Rochester area, he was somewhat familiar with that market and decided to broaden his search. This is how he met Dale. Unfortunately, all Dale had at the time was a 12-foot box truck.
Being the resourceful fella he is, Dale used the Network Inventory Finder (NIF) tool in the backend of Work Truck Solutions software to quickly locate the specific truck his customer needed within the Dealer Trade Network. They bonded over how awesome Vanessa is, and as a result, Dale had a really great trade experience. Dale and Scott agreed that Dale would give Scott an empty cargo van. In return, Scott would send over the highly coveted special box truck.

Without technology, it would have taken Dale a lot of time on the phone with different dealers, trying to find what his customer needed. Instead, the transaction was quick, smooth, and hassle-free. Dale was able to deliver the exact vehicle his buyer wanted the very next day. Want more great news?? It goes without saying that two customers were made very happy. Dale said he likely made a returning customer out of the box truck buyer, and now has a good trade partnership with Scott.
